Re: Notice to everyone.
pvfan, it is just as easy for you to make a comment without using inappropriate language as it is to use it. Don't make it any more interesting to read. Just follow Al's suggestionns and everything will be okie dokie!

Why should this site be contributing to the problem.

Re: Notice to everyone.
I don't mind the word that is sometimes used on primetime TV, but I can see how ANY kind of an example can help. Go for it Al.

Re: Notice to everyone.
when free speech ends violence begins
I forget who said that. But I dont wanna argue just wanna ask a question, I agree some words are not suitable for open usage, theys a time and place for everything.
But what constitutes "dirty" or "bad" words. Is it our perception of the word, the stigma that follows a word or maybe our own definition and usage of the word. I know I can speak some spanish and french. If Someone posted or used "dirty" words would people still be offended. I mean to me its strange, I have thought this for years now, that what one person says, its idea is different to each and every person, what gave such words such a terrible meaning. I know their are words we can substitue to make an idea or expression less offensive, but does that make it ok or take away from its offensiveness? A grand example I can think of and that most people use without thought is the word "sucks" I mean in every right and usage of the word, its full meaning is a lewd act and very offensive, but it seems that we accept its partial usage and its real meaning.
I dunno, Im not saying things are wrong or they are right. I agree some words are just not suitable for an open discussion within certain forums (forums not meaning just the message board) I fully understand what AL is doing and saying, we each hold a certain responsibility to ourseleves and others, just because you may have the right to say it someone elses desire may not be to hear it. I just wonder how do we begin to label or identify what is good and bad, what comes with these terms. Im not asking for some copy and paste reasoning from some web site or online dictionary, most especially on this message board I have learned think the answer to every problem or reason can be found in a google search. Im talking more along the lines of say dialect or local definition. Personally to me, Im often offended by words that most arent and use words that offensive to some others. Not on purpose but rather because their stigma is different to me.

From now on they will be taken off and you will be banned for a couple of days according to how bad the word is.
